Scullers Presents The Jimmy Greene Quartet!

Hailed by Tony Hall of Jazzwise magazine (UK) as without doubt one of the most striking young tenors of recent years, Jimmy Greene has released nearly a dozen albums as a leader, appearing with musicians the caliber of Pat Metheny and Robert Glasper, and appeared on some 75 other titles as a sideman. Among the jazz leaders with whom toured and/or recorded are Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, and Kenny Barron. "[Greene] is good for a couple of body chills every time you see him," wrote Jim Macnie in The Village Voice. "[He's] got a big barrelhouse sound, and a way of negotiating changes that make academic moves seem natural."

A native of Hartford, CT, Jimmy Greene has been considered one of the most respected musicians of his generation since his graduation from the Hartt School of Music in 1997; the saxophonist went on to garner awards from ASCAP/IAJE, Chamber Music America, Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, Greater Hartford Arts Council and was named one of DownBeat Magazine's 25 Young Rising Stars in Jazz in 1999. In 2014, Greene released Beautiful Life on Mack Avenue Records and received two GRAMMY® Award nominations in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for 'When I Come Home' which features Javier Colon
